I believe short films are an excellent 'calling card' for those that contribute to them as well as being beautiful works of art in their own right. I'm a 'hands on' producer and create shorts that challenge every artistic element required in film making. I look for inspiring scripts that will allow all the unique and individual creative talents to shine through and still capture the audience in a commercial way. Andy Davie's 'Flash Back' screenplay, with its absorbing and contemporary story-line and fantasy twist, facilitated this agenda perfectly and the support from director Martin Pavey helped it to be fulfilled. From camera work to editing, directing to location finding as well as the emotional range demanded of the performers, Flash Back offered a perfect vehicle for all to excel. I have a varied background in the media industry, from technician to PR to performer and have a great appreciation of high production values - it is as a producer of films that I can be a supporter and mentor of new talent in the film industry and, with the inclusion of established professionals, look to offer a focus and creative environment for that talent to thrive. Sarah is a writer and her husband, John, is a successful photographer. Sarah finally achieves her own success and savours the prospect of financial independence. She wishes to put her career first when John suggests they spend some quality-time together. For that moment, Sarah complies.
Her life is suddenly shattered when she witnesses John’s violent death. Haunted by his memory Sarah is plunged into the torment of Agoraphobia. Unable to go out and be inspired by the world, her writing suffers. Disturbing dreams and flashbacks eventually lead her to a revelation, a simple moment in time, and an opportunity to change everything.
Offering a dynamic range of emotion and imagery . . . The story remarks on a very contemporary issue, the loss of important human values for the sake of career and ambition. Director Martin Pavey
