The origins of TheWIFTS Foundation and its unique porcelain Award
“Individuality is the seed from which creativity stems” ET
The Women’s International Film & Television Showcase and TheWIFTS Foundation International Visionary Awards has ‘Women as Individuals’ for its mission cornerstone.
The concept derives from our awareness that individual women are seldom celebrated for their body of work, not only within the film and television industries, but also other industries throughout our society.
TheWIFTS Foundation strives to create a new strand of recognition, finding outstanding gems of individuality’ within all arenas and bring them together through the art form of Film & Television, the 21st century Visual Communicator.
The question is sometimes asked: ‘Aren’t there enough organizations promoting women?’
The unequivocal answer is TheWIFTS Foundation
celebrates ‘individuality’ not gender. Typically, TheWIFTS seeks out women who have not yet been celebrated because so often the same women get recognized time and time again when in fact there is a wealth of women who are worthy of commendation.
Until our global society recognizes equality in gender, it is important to celebrate ‘individuality’ so that the issue of gender will become of no consequence.
In 2011 society is decades behind the simple acceptance that its foundations are nurtured and sustained by ‘individuals’ especially in the realm of artistic endeavors. For that reason, TheWIFTS Foundation honors outstanding examples of ‘individuality’ so that others can be inspired.

TheWIFTS award designed by brilliant artist Patrick Moulin symbolizes TheWIFTS Foundation ideals: Passion & Integrity, Commerce & Creativity, Equality not Hierarchy. Standing 20 inches high, TheWIFTS Foundation award is based on a wing. Its symbolic shape evokes the subtle curvature of the female form, illustrating the free spirit taking adventurous flight.
Its elegant feathered structure embodies the aim to fly high with one’s dreams. It is the first award to be crafted in white porcelain.
Inspiration for TheWIFTS Foundation
During World War II, ‘Women as Individuals’ on both sides of the Atlantic underpinned our right to the freedoms we enjoy today. TheWIFTS Foundation proudly honors its core inspiration from the UK based Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAFs) & the US based Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs).
